Sterkel Park - The History
Sterkel Park was created by a generous gift from the
Justine Sterkel Estate. Initially the entire Sterkel Farm was to be set
aside for future development as the location for not-for-profit agencies of
Mansfield and Richland County, with the noteworthy exception of the headquarters
for United telephone Company of Ohio (nka Sprint). The environment has witness
the growth of numerous buildings that house various agencies and also the area
has become one of the local recreational centers. Throughout the Spring,
Summer and Fall there are many youth activities that take place at Sterkel Park,
highlighted by it's numerous baseball fields. The centerpiece for all of the
recreation is the recently completed Mansfield Area YMCA.
Sterkel Park - The Future
Today Sterkel Park is evolving to accommodate the
Shoppes at Sterkel Park and selected medical office buildings. Upon completion
the Shoppes at Sterkel Park will house upscale merchants and restaurants in a
high image location with easy traffic flow. Changes currently include the
incorporation of a left hand turn signal from the north heading south on
Lexington Avenue, a separate deceleration lane from the south heading north for
easy right hand turns into the property and walking paths between.
Sterkel Park - The Opportunity
The Shoppes at Sterkel Park will offer over 21,000
square feet of class "A" retail space with direct access to one of Richland
County's major thoroughfares and adjoins on of its finest neighborhoods.
